Post-Halloween Pumpkin Smash on November 5 at Plum Creek Nature Center

Plum Creek Nature Center will allow participants to otherwise obliterate their Halloween pumpkins
and do good for the Earth from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., November 5.
Different smashing
stations determine how the pumpkin will meet its demise. The Jack-O-Lantern
will then be composted by the Forest Preserve District of Will County. Composting
pumpkins keeps waste out of landfills, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and
creates organic fertilizer for soil. Remove candles and all added decorations
beforehand.
The program is
free and registration is not required. Location: 27064 S. Dutton Rd., Crete
Township. For more information, visit the Pumpkin Smash event page.
