Yin Yoga Training
Chinese Medicine Movement Principles and Five Element Theory

In this 5-class series we will take a deep dive into Chinese Medicine’s theory and application of the Yin Yoga Meridian Stretches through the lineage of Masunaga through present day Yin Yoga masters.
Each class is devoted to exploring the Yin Yoga poses and Chinese Medicine Theory for one of the 5 Phases – Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood. In addition, we will work with brief meditations and specific affirmations to broaden our understanding of the mind/body/spirit application of these practices.
Yin Yoga is based on the ancient Taoist (Chinese Medicine) 5 Phase Theory which explores the 5 phases in nature (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, & Wood) and how they exist and operate within the body. All poses in Yin Yoga are Chinese Medicine Meridian stretches and correspond with the 5 Phase organ networks in the body.
In this workshop we will soften into these poses, just as Masunaga instructed us to soften and practice stillness and deep breathing in these Meridian Stretches, with no agenda, simply observation.
Although this class is based on personal yoga practice principles, the movements we are exploring on ourselves have direct bodywork applications for applied shiatsu meridian stretches and mobilizations and will be considered from that perspective. The Five Phase theories we cover will help you holistically understand the interconnection of the body, emotions and environmental influenes. Please join us for this in-depth exploration into these practices that directly inform our Shiatsu technique.
This class can be taken EITHER in-classroom, or by Zoom, on the same schedule either way. The in-person class will be broadcast by Zoom simultaneously.
